My 5 Must-have Apps for a Lawyer: #ReginaRex

must-have apps

As a lawyer, I cannot tell you how many business cards I have in my wallet and how many I have lost. Everyone has a business card it can be so hard to remember what contacts you have and do not have. This app keeps them all categorized and it automatically generates the phone number, email, business name and persons name into a contact that is added to your phone book. So how do you use this app:

  1. Download the app either from itunes or google app store.
  2. Get those business cards ready, capture it and all contact information can be read and saved to your phone

You can exchange electronic business cards when at a meeting, conference, summit etc I say “Go paperless or go home!”

You are welcome! and with the upcoming NBA conference and SBL Conference you can’t have asked for a more appropriate app!!!

I promise you all, I do not know what I was doing before I discovered Wunderlist. If you are one of those ones that are naturally organised then you are good without this app but for those of us who make a conscious effort to keep track of our lives to ensure every goal set is achieved or any task to be done is done…then this app is for you!

Wunderlist is a simple to-do list and task manager app that helps you get stuff done. Whether you’re sharing a grocery list with a loved one, working on a project, or planning a vacation, Wunderlist makes it easy to capture, share, and complete your to-dos. Wunderlist instantly syncs between your phone, tablet and computer, so you can access all your tasks from anywhere.

I remember every Tuesday during my Chambers attachment, I was given the task to arrange old files dating as far back as 1991, the year I was born…-__- great! I never learnt anything…I still don’t understand the aim of that exercise, all it made me do was dread Tuesdays!!!

tuesday stress

Thank God for Dropbox we no longer have to put legal externs and indeed lawyers through that torture, the paperwork is reduced and life is made easier.

Once you download the app and create an account, you get a 2GB of storage space and that can be increased to 18GB by tweeting or referring the app to friends (I promise you that I am not doing that now lol).

You drop your files in your Dropbox folder, and they’re automatically shared with any device you choose to share it with. You can share files with clients, your peers or anyone else you want.

You achieve two things with Dropbox: 1) It allows your colleagues at work, to share, edit and access documents from any device. 2) Dropbox ensures that your client files are not lost if your computer crashes or you lose your hard drive.

And yes your data is safe!!!!

One word for this app “MAGIC”!!!, It uses your mobile phone to scan documents and converts them to PDF files. How convenient?!?

No need to rush to the office to use your scanner or a business center to scan a document. You have a portable scanner and fax machine in your phone.

With this app you no longer need to make notes while your client speaks, you can now give your client your undivided attention because this app records the conversation and turns it into a note…yup! that’s exactly right!

You can also go through your notes and make any changes you want. I love it!

Actually wish I knew about this in law school…hmmm
